SEVEN STAR WOMEN'S KUNG FU |

The style taught at Seven Star is the Gaylord Method of Kajukenbo Chu’an Fa Kung Fu. Created in Hawaii in the 1940s, Kajukenbo was the first indigenous American martial art. It combines aspects of Tang Soo Do (Korean Karate), Kodokan Judo, Jujitsu, Kosho Ryu Kenpo, and Shaolin Kung Fu (also known as Chinese Boxing). Developed for use in street fighting, especially against larger opponents, Kajukenbo combines practical skills for self defense with the style and grace of traditional martial arts. And if you don’t care about all that and just want some exercise that will engage your mind as well as your body, it’s hard to beat for variety: One minute in class you'll be sweating through a sparring round; the next you may be refining your joint-lock techniques, practicing kicks, or learning a complex kata. To enable as many women as possible to train, we offer free childcare and also have a scholarship program. There are no contracts to sign, monthly dues are on a sliding scale, and students do not need to buy uniforms or any special equipment. We welcome you to browse this site to find out more about the schoolor better yet, come train with us!
